Georgette silk is a refined, sensuous fabric distinguished by its delicate grain, graceful fluidity, and subtle natural stretch. Its signature character is achieved through a sophisticated interplay of yarn twists—unlike chiffon, where both warp and weft are woven from highly twisted A and B count silk yarns spun at approximately 5600 RPM, georgette is crafted using a softly twisted katan silk warp, spun between 1800 and 2800 RPM, paired with a finely twisted chiffon silk weft. This careful balance lends the fabric its elegant fall and softly textured surface.
Woven on a traditional handloom using a time-honoured frame known as the khaddi, the silk is gently stretched during the weaving process, resulting in what is revered as khaddi georgette—a fabric celebrated for its finesse, movement, and artisanal excellence.
